Below is a small sample of our exam prep questions:

(1)  Plumbing piping shall be supported in accordance with the IPC at set intervals. Therefore, given that a building has horizontal run of cast-iron pipe that is a total of 73 feet in length, how many total hangers would be required for this installation?

      • Correct Answer: IPC – Table 308.5. Calculate (one hanger at each end) + (70’/5′) = 2 + 14 = 16 hangers total

(2)  What is the maximum approximate diameter of a bored hole in a 2 x 6 inch exterior load bearing wood stud, given that the IMC limits the hole to a maximum of 40 percent of the stud depth?

      • Correct Answer: IMC – 302.3.3 States stud depth x 40%. The actual dimension of a 2 x 6 is 1-1/2 x 5-1/2. Therefore, 5.5″ x 40% = 2.2″. So, approximately 2-3/16 inches

(3)  Calculate the total cost to a contractor given the following itemized list of expenses:

– Jobsite requirement = 42 products delivered,
– Product cost = $27 each, plus 6% sales tax,
– Delivery cost = $50 if value is less than $1,000.

      • Correct Answer: $27 x 42 products = $1,134.00, then include the tax, $1,134.00 x 1.06 = $1,202.04

(4)  It is important to distinguish business expenses from a personal expenses. Which of the following would be considered a valid deductible business expense?

      • Correct Answer: Contractors Guide to Business Law and Project Management – Section 14-3  Cost for business related travel
