What is the calculated ampacity of each of the twelve #12 AWG THHN wires in the same wireway?
Correct Answer: NEC – Table 310.16, Table 310.15(C)(1) see steps below.
Step_1: Per Table 310.16, 90 deg C column for THHN, 12 AWG wire ampacity find 30 A.
Step_2: Per Table 310.15(C)(1) Number of Conductors 10-20 Adjustment find 50%.
Step_3: Calculate: 30 A x 0.50 = 15 A
An installation uses flexible metal conduit that must contain eight (8) number 10 AWG conductors. These eight wires are insulated with THHN. What would be the required minimum trade size of the raceway?
